HYGAIN V BLEEP MODULE

The most popular bleep module ever made available.

The History

There are numerous "Famous" Tones that are confined to history as the radios they belong to have long been out of production.

The most popular and well known being the " Peewit" as used in the Hygain V (5) Range of Multimode radios

This is also nicknamed the "Marmite Bleep", some love it others hate it.

There have been a couple of faithful reproductions in the past, one in particular by JD Custom components back in the late eighties, these have since become quite rare and are now collectable.

The recent attempts whist quite near still haven't got the exact tone nailed.

I won't tar them all with the same brush, that would be unfair, however i would say strongly buyer beware......

A lot of this has to do with the radio it is being fitted into and its audio path design, this radio will not have the same audio path as the Cybernet PTBM121AOX chassis.

The audio path on this chassis was quite distinctive in particular on FM, the design is actually quite poor and the audio is quite harsh, this is however where the Bleep gets its distinctive "Breathiness".

I spent may hours trying to replicate the tone and found that in one radio it was spot on and yet in another it sounded different, maybe just in pitch for example.

So it was then i had an idea, why not make the tone oscillator adjustable ? This would surely counteract the problems with differences in the audio path. After some experimentation i had a fully adjustable tone pitch on both sides of the oscillator.

This board has been by far the most popular board i have produced to date.

I ceased production in 2021 due to component shortages, however i have managed to secure the correct components to now put this little board back into production for the next generation of CB enthusiasts.

The MK2 is even smaller and is now all SMD and has an optional 3D printable mounting bracket to secure the board in the radio.

The supplied wiring harness is as per our standard bleep wiring plan.
