ULTRA BLEEP

The most advanced end of transmission module available.

The Concept

Having been fans of CB Radio since the late 1970's we noticed that the majority of users liked the roger bleep as a way of identifying one another when on the air.

There are numerous "Famous" Tones that are confined to history as the radios they belong to have long been out of production.

There have been some very good attempts at reproducing them over the years, for example the " Peewit" as used in the Hygain 5 Range of Multimode radios was perfectly reproduced by JD Custom components back in the late eighties. The recent attempts whist quite near still haven't got the exact tone nailed. This is where the idea of the Ultrableep was born.

Back in 2014 i designed a single tone board that would replace most of the common tones that seemed quite sought after for example "The Flintstones, Dixie (dukes of hazzard), Close encounters 5 Tone, K Tone and The twilight Zone to name but a few.

These proved very popular and still do to this day.

My stock of these is totally depleted now.

I sat and thought long and hard about a replacement for this board.

This board had to be much more advanced than the last, new boards seem to appear on the internet all the time, however they seem to be home brew or very poorly executed to make them cheap and this is exactly what the appear to be "Cheap & Nasty", i was given one to repair for a customer and thought this would be a good time to see exactly how bad they really are.

My findings worried me a bit, how can these boards be sold as a product ?

The technical side was poor at best, "Thrown Together" and a few where actually on vero board hidden inside heat shrink sleeving.........Whilst this is ok for a home-brew project it certainly isn't good enough to be sold as a new product.

Simple things like proper capacitive decoupling of supply lines and switching circuits with no pull down to make sure the circuit is actually off when it should be.

I wont tar them all with the same brush, that would be unfair, however i would say strongly buyer beware......
